Something’s different around here!

It looks like the Stupid Evil Cat is baffled as to what is going on here! He’s scratching his head over the new look to the website, with the focus now on my blog. This has been a long time coming, and it means that I will try and share more news related to my freelance work as well as my school programs, events and appearances. My good friend and editor Janna Morishima has been (kindly) cracking the whip for a long time; trying to get me to blog more frequently, due to the increase in showing up in...

Catching up with cartooning friends!

Pictured with me is Emma, my young cartoonist friend from Harris Creek Elementary School in Raleigh, NC.  She came up to me to say hello recently at the United Arts Council of Wake County’s artist conference.  Emma is an enthusiastic student who participated in one of my Kids Make Comics! residency programs last year, but it gets better than that.  You see- Emma goes to a year-round school; a schedule that has her in class for several weeks, then out on break for a couple…year round.  It so happened that my residency at her school was scheduled during a week that...

Calling all kids ages 7 and up who enjoy drawing and making comics!  I recently worked with the great folks at Professor Garfield to produce a series of videos called KIDS MAKE COMICS!  The topics for each video come from my school programs, where I teach students in elementary schools how to make their own comics.   Currently there are 5 videos, but I have plans for more!  You will also find downloadable activity sheets and comic templates that you can then print at home.  Professor Garfield has 2 websites, where you can see the videos. is a Flash site;...

It is heartwarming and oftentimes amusing to read what these kids have to say.  Or ask.  It’s the same thing during my school visits; students occasionaly come up...

Howdy, Partners!

It’s been too long since I’ve saddled up to the ol’ bloggin’ post, so I decided to mosey on in to update  you on all the goings-on and such.  Why, you ask, am I talking like a B-Western movie character?  Well, because I’m hip-deep in pages of re-writes for Hamster Sam’s next volume, “The California Cheese Rush!”.  Yes, It’s been a long time coming, but notes regarding the 2nd draft from my editor have yielded a final draft, and I’m ready to belly-up to the studio and DRAW, Partner!!  My editor on this book is Kristin Earhart, formerly with...
